NewryWAN is a non-profit community group dedicated to creating & maintaining a wireless wide area computer network that will cover much of Newry City.

Our mission is to create a network which is open and free to everyone. The network can provide high speed internet access (with agreement of another member), Voice over IP (free network phone calls), community web sites & e-learning facilities. This can be of great benefit to remote, rural & disadvantaged areas that can't afford or don't have access to a permanent internet connection.

A test link from Bessbrook > Newry has been installed. This is a backbone link to handle internet bound data for the many Bessbrook clients that will be connecting to the rest of the network
